Angry French--Pourquoi?

oday's International Herald Tribune, which makes the New York Times look like The Washington Times, has an article about how angry the French are with their government:

Reflecting the anger of French voters, opposition leaders criticized what they described as the failures of the government and tore apart a plan unveiled by Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin to restore public trust in the government in 100 days.

In his maiden speech as prime minister before the National Assembly, Villepin was both applauded and booed as he laid out proposals to create jobs to reinvigorate the economy. In a vote later, the plan was approved

I'm sorry. Don't the French understand that you get the government you deserve? I work in the semiconductor industry. The industry in Europe is facing a sharp decline, as semiconductor manufacturers move to Asia, mostly Singapore and China.

Why?

In a word, Socialism.

Workers in France have conned their socialist government into putting a lid on the work week, 36 hours. Vacation? More than twice what you would find in the U.S. Throughout Europe, government restrictions on work keep workers from choosing longer hours or being more productive. Socialism requires that business spend extra on resources.

Not so in Asia. Asia is sucking up the business. Workers are willing to work harder, longer and cheaper. So SURPRISE! Jobs are moving there.

Socialism is failing Europe. Socialist governments, BY THEIR NATURE, fail their people. Why? Cause there's always a price to pay for dependency, for getting something for nothing.

European economies would have collapsed long ago if they didn't have the U.S. shouldering their military burden. (Same with Canada.) This gift from the U.S. is mostly unacknowledged. Few people make the connection that their experiments in Socialism (and so-called successes) are built on the backs of American taxpayers.

We are in danger as well, because the more Socialism that takes hold in this country, the fewer Americans there are willing to shoulder the burdern. Currently, fewer than half are contributers. The majority of Americans are on the receiving end of tax monies and social programs.

The biggest danger in the world is if China fully discovers capitalism. If so, they will own the planet.
