Finding the Right Spouse

e're coming up on the marriage season and I thought I'd post a little reminder about how to tell when you have found the right person. A mother recently thanked me. Her daughter had called off the wedding a few days before the event and felt terrible guilt. I gave her the four questions and she answered No to every one. She felt incredibly relieved. Now she is marrying a fireman and can answer Yes to all four.

Now it's your turn.

If you think you have found a potential spouse, ask yourself these questions. If you can honestly answer Yes to all four, don't hesitate.

  1. If this person were to stay just as they are for the rest of their lives, would that be okay?
  2. Would you like to become more like this person?
  3. If you were to have children, would you want to have children with this person?
  4. Would you want your child to grow up to be like this person?
